...6.8...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...first a little dollie update...she now has a rather curvy lower half to go with her curvaceous upper half...
...the sweet instructions reminding us to imagine a human shape...
...so I stuffed her little bum with two little compressed balls of fluff...like I did for her little top-bits...
...and in profile...she has quite the 'figure'...a pretty 'ideal' human form...
...and then in another part of my workbasket...I've got another little niece who's having a birthday this month...

...and I know that her dolly needs a little blanket...because...when I sent her Mom a new dishcloth in with her birthday card...she very sweetly texted me a thank you...and said that it was currently being used as a doll blanket...haha...so I knew I needed to make a dolly blanket...and I thought about knitting a doll blanket...like this one...Grandma's Baby Blanket...and I will do that...maybe for her big sissie...but I'll need to buy some nice soft baby yarn for that...so this time...I just bought a super sweet-cute flannel baby receiving blanket...
...and I wanted the blanket to be a 20" square...
...so I just took a couple of measurements...and made a couple of folds...
...and cut it out...I liked the little rounded edges...so I did that too...and then I removed the serger overlock binding...because I'm going to crochet a new pink binding...
...and I had enough leftover blanket fabric to make a sweet little pillow as well...
...I just cut a rectangle...6"...
...by 10"...
...so first I tried just using a tiny crochet hook and poking it though the fabric to crochet a border...but it was really really difficult to do that...
...so I changed tactics and just did a blanket stitch around to anchor my crochet...it was much easier to poke a needle through the blanket than the crochet hook...
...and then once I had that blanket stitch foundation border row...I just did a row of shell stitch all the way around...it's pretty and feminine and pink...
...then I sewed around the little pillow...leaving a small opening for stuffing...
...and I stuffed a nice soft dolly pillow...
...and then just stitched it closed by hand...I was going to do a machine stitch all the way around...but thought it'd be softer like this...
...the finished blanket and pillow...
...ready for gifting...I hope the dollies are sweetly cuddled in their new blanket...and that sweet Mama gets her dishcloth back...

...what's in your workbasket this week...

~Have a lovely day!
