...12.7...Vacation...a trip to Mom's...

...so we started the vacation with a trip to the mountains...
...I always love the drive up to the mountains...
...we drove past the Church where we were married...so I snapped a photo...
...arrived at Mom's for a few days visit...so here's the obligatory front porch photo of Mills Knob...
...we spent the afternoon visiting and Mom had gotten another packet of photos...pretty sure she said this one came from her aunt...and there was this sweet photo of her...it's so much fun to see photos like this that we've never seen before...
...and this one...taken at Mommaw and Poppaws house...that's me as a toddler...Mom, Daddy and my big brother...my sweet sissie is still in Mom's tummy...Daddy looks a little angry but I think the sun is just in his eyes...and Mom looks gorgeous...
...so then I started texting photos (of photos...haha) to my sweet cousin...she's the toddler in this one...
...and we had a sweet little burst of texts as she'd never seen these photos either...
...Grandma's house...back in the day...
...a few Christmas photos...that's me in the red dress holding my cousin's hand...so sweet...
...we got hats this year from Grandma...and that's a snaggletoothed me in the front and my cousin behind me...we had exactly matching hats...#twinning cousins...and sissie is in the back...the only one with a green hat...I think they thought the red would clash with her gorgeous red hair...Mom often dressed her in green as well...I remember that drawing set...I loved it...
...and one of us as tweenagers...the middle row...sissie, my cousin and me...
....and a super sweet photo of her Mom that she'd never seen...she laughed (haha) and said she makes that same face...I can imagine it...she looks a lot like her Mom...

...it was so much fun just visiting and reminiscing...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. So weird, I posted a comment to this already. But it doesn’t look like it saved. Love seeing those photos, always fun to see photos that you’ve never seen before of your childhood! Love, K

    1. Hey K,
...we had a lot of fun with that...it seems like every time I go for a visit Mom has some new ones...

  2. Oh - where is the pond/white bridge? Was there something about a bee sting there? Very vague memories - like some of my first memories ever - could that be possible? Was I even alive at that point?

  3. What fun! I love old photos like that. And you know--you look just the same as in that first photo! Its wild! I have so many photos of Matt looking surly when, in fact, it was a sun/brightness issue. It is a running joke around here. And look at that blue sky!! Gorgeous. That looks like a lovely drive, indeed.

    1. Hi Beth,
...I do love seeing old photos like this too...especially these ones that I've never seen before...Mom gave us each a photo album of our childhood photos that she'd taken...it's such a treasure...we sure didn't take as many photos back then...haha...Our Airman's photos would probably fill a room if you printed them all out...haha...

    2. Ain't that the truth?! A number of years ago my sister Sarah went through our mom's photos and made customized albums for me, my other sister, and both my parents. I treasure it. It is probably my favorite gift of all time. It means so much to me.

It must be interesting, in a way, for kids to be so well documented these days as they grow up. So many photos and videos! Years back I got hung up on reading everything I could on Victorian postmortem photographs (aka Memento Mori photos). At first glance it was so macabre, but as I learned more it was almost achingly beautiful. Most people in that era had little to no photographs taken of them...so when they died people wanted to find a way to capture them, for memory's sake. It is so different than today. I found it a fascinating rabbit hole to fall down.

Anyhoo...that's enough of a tangent, I suppose. ;) I hope you have a wonderful day!
