...10.10...Over the Weekend...

...we headed up to the mountains after Church...
...for a quick visit with both of our Moms...the drive through the just-starting-to-change-colour trees was just lovely...and the weather was too perfect for words...
...so this post is coming to you from my childhood home...
...right after we got there...we saw this buck in our old horse pasture with his "harem"...
...that's the buck right in the middle with his antlers...they are so pretty...also skiddish...I couldn't get close enough to get a really good photo...
...and the Man prepared a delicious Vegan Swiss Steak for dinner...and then we sat around the table for hours just talking the night away...it was great!
...so...let's rewind...just a bit...the early fall weather was so gorgeous...we took advantage of that Saturday and hung the clothes out on the line...
...I went shopping...twice...not really ..I did go to two stores though so it made it seem like an extra long shopping trip...haha...
...mostly just normal stuff...I got tea biscuits...and a nice bag of organic pears...the first I've seen this season...so YUM...
...I don't normally buy the prepackaged salad mixes...but these were each $3 off...and they were on sale for $3.50...so I had to buy them for 50¢...
...I got some Fritos...which I love...and when I tore into the package as I was putting the groceries away...as one does...haha...the whole bag tore down the side...so I just divided them up into three pint jars...they should keep pretty well that way...
...so then I went to Wal-Mart (we call it Stuff-Mart around here)...because I needed the gold fabric paint for a little project at Mom's...I'll tell you all about it on Wednesday...but I found several other things I 'needed'...haha...some fresh beets, radishes and pepper and onion...ground flax seed...I don't normally buy it pre-ground...but I think if I keep it in the freezer it will be ok...the kind of hominy the Man likes...a nice big local cabbage...for making some sauerkraut...and a bag of heirloom local apples...who knew that StuffMart had local stuff...??
...and the paint that I needed of course...
...the beautiful apples...are old varieties...the Man remembers the "Jonathan" variety from his great grandparents apple orchard...and the yellow ones are called Ginger Gold...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!
