...2.17...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...how about another pillow...haha...a really easy one...

...how about a really long post about a relatively easy project...
...so it all started when I spied this rather nappy infinity scarf in the giveaway (read unsellable) bin at the local Thrift Store...
...it's really soft...and it's burgundy...so you see where this is going...

...all sorts of thoughts about what it could become...just unravel it and use the yarn...maybe just keep it and clean it up...but mostly what my mind's eye saw in it was one of those narrow sort of back/neck pillows...so another pillow...of course...
...so I went over to the pillow section of the thrift store...and found the perfect sized pillow ($1.50)...
...I draped the scarf over the pillow form...and it's a couple of feet too long...
...so I unpicked the seam...
...and started unraveling...
...the yarn itself is very nice...fluffy and soft...
...there was a lot of fuzz during the unraveling...but I ended up with a good-sized ball of yarn...I'll put it into the 'stash'...you know for whenever I happen to need just a couple of feet worth of nice soft burgundy yarn...haha...
...and then I picked up the live stitches...and put them onto some knitting needles...
...and bound it off...
...and then I had a still fuzzy/nappy rectangle the size of my pillow...
...so I got out my fabric shaver to give it a bit of a haircut...(btw...the colour of this photo is about right...the next two...not so much)...
...here's an off colour fuzzy before...
...and an even more off colour but neat after...
...I had to empty and clean the shaver thingy...
...more than once...
...but I'm quite happy with the result...
...now to cover the light grey pillow so that it doesn't show through the knit stitches...I happen to have one sleeve and a bit of the burgundy sweatshirt material leftover from my sweatshirt-to-sweatpants conversion project last week...so of course I'm using that instead of buying any more burgundy material...
...a final fitting and then stitching two of the side seams of the knitted cover...
...I made the pillow cover and had just that little bit of burgundy leftover...
...the covered pillow...
...and I just stitched the last side in place over the pillow form...
...that was easy...
...ta-daaa!...the finished pillow...
...now I have three burgundy pillows on the sofa (all different shades)...
...I love it...it'll be a perfect little back support...
...and it goes well with the other two burgundy pillows...
...on either side...

...what's in your workbasket this week?...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. Well that’s a cool story. I’m shocked you were able to get all the nappies off but it looks great. Love, K
