...11.26...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...progress continues on the Hosta pillow...

...I'm still absolutely loving this pattern...I've got it pretty much memorized now...it's the Hosta pillow by Sidsel Sangild

...this is the front...

...I think I'll only need one more full leaf...which will also give me the half row of leaves at the top like I have at the bottom...and of course I'm playing yarn chicken again...I have that small ball of this burgundy left...so the pillow may just end when it ends...haha...

...and this is the back...but if you preferred this side I'm sure you could use it as the front if you wanted to...different facets kind of stand out on the different sides...

...and since I'll need a pillow form...of course...I headed to the thrift store...and I found this black shiny satin one...printed on one side...

...I opened up the end a bit to see if there was a liner...

...but there was not...so I threw the whole thing into the washer...and it came out just fine...

...so then I headed to Stuff-Mart...(Joann's is gone...so Stuff-Mart is now my fabric/yarn store...yikes)...and they had exactly ONE fat quarter of this deep burgundy...so I got it for $1.24...I forgot to mention that the pillow was $1.89 at the thrift store...but it was half price day so it was 95¢...and the yarn was in my stash...so FREE...although of course I did originally buy it...I just don't know how much it cost...so I have a total of $2.84 in this pillow...and that's a pretty good price if you ask me...

...so now the plan is...instead of covering the pillow with the burgundy as I won't have enough to do that...I'll just cover the printed side...and I'll leave the black side black under the Hosta pillow...

...11.24...Over the Weekend...

...we still have almost a dozen vegan croissants in the freezer...so we used a couple of them to make scrambled tofu breakfast sammies...

...then we headed out to get the shopping done...

...nothing really of note...just a regular shopping trip...they had Annie's dressing on sale 2 for $3...so I got Balsamic and Goddess...

...lemon juice lasts a really long time around here...so I decant it into a glass jar so it's not sitting in plastic for so long...I just peel the label off and stick on the jar...

...and since this is the weekend that I'm going to finally finish the edging...YAY!!!...we stopped at Lowe's and lucked out on the mulch and topsoil...as they had rebagged all of their open/torn bags and lowered the price considerably...from $3.98 to $2.50 on the mulch and two bags of topsoil were lowered from $2.88 to $2.00 and one bag from $2.88 to $1.44...so $12.94 instead of $20.58...it doesn't seem like there's hardly any of the substance missing...

...the Man finished the black chest of drawers...

...and added the pretty glass knobs...

...it turned out so pretty...

...it's almost a shame to hide it in the closet...but I'll love having it there...

...out in the yard...I spray painted the white backing on the edging black so it will match all the other edging...and I realized that I don't have quite enough...not sure yet what I'm going to do about the 3 feet or so I don't have...thinking of fabricating some from tin cans or something...I certainly don't want to buy another roll...

...next I fired up the tiller and tilled all along the fence line...

...just one tiller width should be plenty...the other garden bed is a little bit wider but this will be fine...

...tilled up lots of roots and rocks...

...while we were out there...we removed the faucet splitter thingy and covered the faucets with the foam covers for the winter...

...in the food prep department...I made some lentil stew...

...Griddler-ed some Brussels sprouts out on the porch...they're a little bit stinky you know...

...and I blended up some tofu yogurt...it's just a block of tofu...two tbls. of acv and two of lemon juice...a couple of spoonfuls of blueberry powder and a couple of spoonfuls of sugar...

...I love to eat it over bran flakes...it's like cheesecake...so good...

...11.22...Dinner and a Movie...

...well...dinner was vegan fish and chips...and I almost totally forgot to take a photo...but it's tofu wrapped in Nori...with veganaise tartar sauce...chips from the air fryer and a pickle...it was delicious...and quick and easy...

...and the movie was Adulthood...it was really dark and quirky and a little bit funny...but not much...about two siblings who find a body hidden in their mother's house when she has a stroke...it was a movie about some people...haha...it kind of reminded me of Fargo...because things sort of spiraled out of control...

...11.21...Friday Update...

...the Man had started this little painting project before we left for Las Vegas...I had filled in all of the scratches made by Kitten when this chest was in Our Airman's room...notice that the bottom drawer runner is missing...not sure when or how that happened...one broken off side was still inside...but the chest hasn't been used since we moved...

...and look what we found stuck to the back side of one of the drawers...the Man was so tickled to see them...he said he remembered sticking them on the back of the drawer where no one could see them so that he wouldn't get into 'trouble'...he had gotten them from a cereal box...

...I found this image and a bunch of images of these stickers here...

...the Man's stickers must have been on the top left card of stickers...

...as you can see Paul with the fruit...

...and Ringo with the flower and the pinwheel...

...so FUN!...

...anywhooo...he took over the big room again...

...to get everything primed...

...the final coat will be black though...

...in the meantime...I set about recreating one of these runners...

...to replace the one that's missing here on the bottom...

...I used the tablesaw...the chop saw and a coping saw...

...to replicate the exact measurements that I'd taken of an existing one...

...popped it into place...and gave it a couple of quick brads with the nailer...then I sanded the top smooth and rounded the edges just a bit...and finally rubbed a bar of soap on top so it would glide smoothly and silently...

...and the drawer fits and glides so I'm really happy with that fix...

...I had bookmarked this Pajeon (Korean Scallion Pancake) a while ago...

...fried the onions...

...poured over the batter...

...and flipped to cook the other side...

...these were so delicious...highly recommend...

...11.19...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...this was my "Vacation Project"...haha...if you've seen all of the Las Vegas posts you'll know that I didn't really have much time for crocheting...but I thought a crochet hook are more travel friendly than knitting needles...

...and I've been wanting to make some burgundy pillows for the den for a while now...I've just been too busy with other projects...but now that it's cold and dark and all the Christmas presents are done and on their way to Alaska...I plan to make at least three pillows...

...so I dove into the stash and got out all of the burgundy colours...

...there was one skein of this deep burgundy that I thought would be perfect...

...and I chose the Hosta pillow by Sidsel Sangild for the first pillow...

...but this is all I've gotten done so far...

...and I absolutely LOVE this pattern...it's so beautiful and it's not as difficult as it looks...
