...9.18...Friday Update at Mom's...

...we're painting the ceiling first...so we took down the overhead heater units...and we also removed the exterior door and the understairs closet door...

...Mom said she didn't think the ceiling had ever been painted...

...you can really see the difference...

...and I look like I'm concentrating on it really hard...haha...

...next up...we painted all of the trim and the exterior door...Mom wanted to leave the closet door natural to tie in with the natural cabinets on that wall...

...and then we used some artist's yellow pigment to mix up a 'custom' colour...from a colour card that Mom picked out at Ace Hardware...we got a really close match...

...so we went all around the room cutting in around all the trim...

...meanwhile Mom was just on the other side of the exterior door power washing the patio and sidewalk...there's a huge difference there as well...

...and in no time at all...we'd done two coats...(and three in some places)...

...so we left it to dry while we had some fun...

...because it was still really warm...mom wanted to uncover her pool and use it for the few days that it would still be warm enough...so I borrowed a swimsuit and jumped in...

...mom snapped a couple of photos of me swimming around...it was refreshing and a lot of unexpected fun...I didn't pack a swimsuit because the pool is usually closed up by Labor Day as it's starting to get chilly in the mountains...but not this year...

...after our swim we got dressed and loaded a couple of chairs into the car and went to our old Alma Mater to watch our nephew play soccer...he and his sister both play goalie for their respective teams...so he's the one in the bright red kit in this photo...he made a few awesome saves and his team won 4-1...it was a fun game and visit with the nephew and his wife too...

...and when we got home we put everything back in place...

...it really brightened and cozied up the room...Happy Birthday Mom!
