Fried Okra for Breakfast...

...so I asked our southern boy what he wanted for breakfast on his first day of Christmas vacation...

...expecting the somewhat familiar breakfast items of waffles or pancakes...

...but our sweet Scout asked if he could please have some fried okra...so I rummaged in the freezer and found a bag...it's one of the items that our grocer stocks just for us...

...so Scout had his special okra breakfast...

...we do serve okra as a proper side dish as well, but here he's eating it out of hand like popcorn...

...what's the strangest thing you've ever eaten for breakfast?...

  1. I'm not sure where he got all his love for fried okra but I know he got a healthy dose from me. I often list it as my very favorite food. MOM

P.S. I don't think I have ever eaten it for breakfast.

  2. I've never had fried okra for breakfast...or any other time. My strangest breakfast was probably lasagna or peanuts...

probably my strangest was on the charter boat this may in st. marteen (or st. kitts, nevis...etc - can't remember what island we were on) dick cooked scrambled eggs, pickled herring splashed with vodka....served with some real french "creme" (like cream cheese, but creamier) - very weirdly wonderful!

    love, k

  6. The mention of okra brings me back to the time I lived in Florida - I'm pretty sure I haven't had it since I moved back to Maine.

Hmmm..... strangest breakfast food for me would have to be cold pizza.

    Merry Christmas!!

I'm not really a big fan of breakfast foods, so odd things make it into my morning meal quite a bit. I ate a Tofurky sausage the other morning and my brother said to me: What are you? A bachelor? :)
