...guac...

...we love our guacamole around here...
...and we've been wanting to try these 'new' skinny avocados that we've been seeing in the grocery store...

...their skins look different...and I'm not sure how to tell when they're ripe...
...but Scout peeled one...mashed it up...juiced a lime...and added some spices...
...put it in a croc...surrounded it with some chips...(aren't those coasters hilarious?...Scout gave them to the Man for Father's Day...)
...it looks pretty much the same...just a little waterier...(is that a word?...)
...it's good...but definitely not as creamy as Haas avocado guac is...so our verdict is that it may be lighter on fat...but it's also lighter on flavor...

...Do you like Guacamole?

Our 'Guac' recipe

One ripe avocado - either a Haas or a Slimcado...
1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
Dash of salt and fresh ground pepper...or to taste - we like ours kinda salty
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1 cube Knorr cilantro...my sweet sissie gets these for me at her grocery store...they are not available at mine...but they are perfect for this dish...

Peel and mash avocado...add lime juice and spices...combine well and serve with chips or veggies for dipping...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. Some years ago we had a holiday in a log cabin in Spain. The cabins were in an avocado orchard and the avocados were everywhere - ours for the picking up. They were just so delicious, we ate dozens of them - including wonderful guacamole.

It was several weeks later we realised our skin was wonderful!

  2. I do love guac! I usually add chunks of onions and tomatoes to mine but I don't think most people do.
