...1.3...Over the Weekend...and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

...after a couple of weeks of unseasonable 70° weather...

...we woke up this morning to SNOW!...

...after all the recent warmth...of course it did not stick to the ground...but it was delightful to watch it fall...

...now...back to the weekend...we made pancakes on the new griddle...they turned out perfectly...the new griddle has three adjustments...one in the middle to switch between grill mode and griddle mode...and then temperature dials for each of those...so it's a little bit more adjustable than the Foreman grill...

...we had slept pretty late so it was 3 o'clock before I could pick up the InstaCart grocery shop...

...absolutely nothing unusual...but we did go a little bit heavy on the provisions...expecting some shortages in the weeks ahead...

...and one of our gardening parishioners brought us big bags full of huge sweet potatoes and apples...what a blessing...

...so then it was time to make the traditional New Year's meal...

...black eyed peas, greens and cornbread...we also halved a huge sweet potato (cooked on the new grill)...and it was so savory and delicious...it's one of my favorite meals...

...then Sunday afternoon...we used one of the Man's stocking stuffers...he'd gotten one of those booklets of car washes...it's fun to sit in the car as it gets pulled through the mechanized wash...

...and...while we were out...we picked up an early Mexican restaurant dinner...and that was just scrumptious....

...and then because we want to give back to our gardening friend...we started another batch of homemade sauerkraut...so that we can give him some...we know he likes it...haha...

...so we sterilized all of the implements...

...chopped three pounds of cabbage in my old repaired Emmie...and mixed in three teaspoons of kosher salt...

...and now it can just sit there on the counter...doing it's thing...for about three weeks...and it will be ready for gifting...
