...W.I.P. Wednesday...repairing sandals...

...I was just telling my sweet sissie a couple of days ago about these sandals that I'd gotten at the end of summer sale at Stuff-Mart in North Dakota...and you can tell how old they are because we moved from ND in 2012...

...and I only paid $1 for them...and I bought a black pair exactly like them...they are vegan...all materials man-made...I like them and wear them a lot in the summer...
...but Sunday when I was getting ready for Church one of the buckles broke...it just broke...I don't know why...it did not seem to be under any stress...but hey...$1 sandals...right?...

...and you can see the broken bits on the counter...

...but you know me and my "wear-it-out/or/use-it-up" attitude...
...I immediately thought of bobby pins as a fix...they are bendable metal...and just the right bronze colour to be fairly inconspicuous on the tan sandals...

...it was a really simple fix...first I straightened out a bobby pin and slipped it through the loop on the strap and also through the center loop of the tongue...this piece is actually called a 'pin terminal'...I know that because I looked it up...and yes I'm a geek like that...
...and then I bent another bobby pin into a square 'frame' and then looped the pin terminal around the center of that and crimped it with the pliers and cut off the excess...
...and here it is buckled...

...and my makeshift bobby-pin buckle works perfectly...and I was able to wear the sandals to Church after all...

...what have you mended lately?...

~Have a lovely day!
