...5.18...W.I.P. Wednesday...Sissie's Birthday...

...my Sweet Sissie's birthday was yesterday...so I can finally show you her little gifties...
...she had 'requested' (of course it wasn't a real request...she just mentioned that white things are difficult to keep clean on the boat)...a dishcloth in a darker colour than white...so I got this pretty aqua blue cotton...and made my regular "Grandma's Favorite Dishcloth"...

...and then I got out my kitchen scales (doesn't everyone weigh their yarn this way...haha)...and weighed it because I didn't think that I'd have enough of the blue to make a second one...and I needed 42 grams...
...and I happen to have some of the bright fuschia left over from the Easter Sweater...so I just combined that with the blue to make enough for another dishcloth...
...I intended to do a random stripe of blue and pink...but it wound up being pretty symetrical...funny...
...and then I got out a dishcloth to embroider...and because I'd made the mistake of centering the monogram on the ones I made for Christmas that one year...and they wound up being difficult to 'center' on the oven handle...you know where you always hang your dishtowel...you kind of have to fold it in thirds...you can see that monogram here...

...and how I made them here...

...so this time I folded the towel in quarters...and I'll embroider in the lower right quadrant...so that Sissie can just fold it in half and drape it over her oven handle...
...and y'all know what a 'word nerd' I am...always looking up words and etymologies...and I think my Sissie got enough of that 'gene' to think this towel is cute...I enlarged and printed out the dictionary page for the name of her boat "Sojourn"...and positioned that under the towel...
...and traced all of the letters just with a regular pencil...
...ready to begin embroidery...
...I'm using a polyester blend thread...so the towel can probably be bleached to remain nice and white...the embroidery shouldn't fade...
...it's mostly black...you know the way letters printed on white are...haha...but I used aqua blue for the phonetics...so it sort of matches the dishcloths...and grey italics for the noun and verb...
...and it was soon finished...
...easily folded and draped...haha...
...and combined with a few other little gifties...I made her a 2022 bookmarker...like Mom's...and I couldn't find the "Green's Seasoning" that we both love...so I got her a couple of Soul Food seasonings instead...and hopefully they'll restock the Green's Seasoning...becuase it's pretty perfect for seasoning greens...

...wishing Sissie a Very Happpy Birthday!

~Have a lovely day!
