...Over the Weekend...

...there was no dinner and a movie Friday night...
...because...Friday morning bright and early...we drove through the clouds into the mountains...for another quick family visit...
...we got to Mom's in time for a picnic lunch...
...we had Our Girl with us this time too...
...my vegan picnic...
...followed by a plate of fruit...
...then there was some refreshing pool time...and I had left my camera on the deck...so there were all kinds of rather goofy action shots...this one with the legs sticking out of the water reminded me of Scout's Pool Birthday Cake...many years ago now...
...and the slide is just about as much fun as it always was...
...and here's one with a lot less action...haha...
...on a rather sad note...Mom and I headed over to the SDA store for some vegan goodies...but sadly it has gone the way of so many small shops...and has closed it's doors for the last time...
...then we did a little bit of sight-seeing with Our Girl...
...because she had never been to 'Looking Glass Falls'...it's so beautiful...
...then Saturday morning we headed back over to Asheville for a Family Reunion...this one is always mid-July...

...we had Jack with us...and since it was so hot we just tied him up outside the Community Center...he had lots of visitors though...
...my sweet Mama was this years reunion organizer/planner...
...it went the way all reunions go...everyone lined up for the covered dish dinner...
...my sweet Mama had also made sure I had plenty of vegan food...yep...fried green tomatoes...fried squash...green beans...coleslaw...corn...a roll...and sweet tea...of course...
...everyone had a good time eating and visiting...
...there's a trove of old photo albums from each year's reunion...it was so much fun looking through those...I'll share a few blasts from the past...
...all the cousining going on each year was a highlight for us kids...
...me and my sweet cousin Lori...and skinny eyebrows were a thing...I remember that top too...it had a butterfly on the front that matched the scarf around my neck...70s clothes are just so cool...
...I love this photo of my parents...my Mom is looking beautiful as always...and just look how sweetly Daddy is looking at her...
...me with a very very tiny Scout...with Granddaddy and Uncle Curt...
...and one of my sweet Grandma from that same year...

...anywhoo...all too soon it was time to pack up and head home...
...and what do you think was waiting on our doorstep when we got home...well Callie was there missing us...but there was also another bag of garden fresh veggies...
...and fresh corn already shucked...we are so blessed...
...my kitchen window has tomatoes two deep now...
...we grilled some tofu...
...and enjoyed a beautiful sunset...and called it a night...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

    1. Hey K,
...I know...Mom had checked the website for hours before we left...so we were super disappointed when we got there...the signs have numbers to call if you're interested in buying bulk stock or equipment...oh well...there's always Amazon...
      :(

    1. Hi Maureen,
They are a lot of fun...it's great to touch base and catch up with cousins even if we only see each other once a year now...

  4. Huzzah for time with family. Also, I'm borrowing that word: cousining. Matt will appreciate it. His family is not so large and gregarious as mine. You look a lot like your mom.
