..we celebrated my birthday...
...there were flowers...
...and cards and pressies...just a few little things...
...vegan chocolates, a tiny silicone spatula...the Man got it for me so that I could scrape all the vegan mayo out of my tall and narrow stick blender container...it's hard to do with a big spatula... and an olive pitter-thingy...I think the Man felt sorry for me trying to cut all of the pits out of the jarred black olives...a pair of 'blue blocker' glasses for computer work and watching TV at night...and a sweet little wooden case for them...and a steamer basket for the Instant Pot...I've been wanting to try steaming veggies in it for a while now...
...Bing wished me a happy birthday...not sure why I find that so entertaining...
...we went out to the Cuban restaurant to celebrate...and we were sitting there chatting and the music suddenly changed to a loud version of the Birthday song...haha...someone must have told them it was my birthday...so the staff came out and put a hat on my head and sang Happy Birthday to me...it was sweet and fun!...
...my vegan dinner...vegetable rice...and cuban black beans...fried plantain in the background...
...after dinner we went to the little Main Street ice cream shop...it wasn't too crowded when we got there...we've been before and the queue has gone halfway down the block...
...I got my favorite vegan strawberry sorbet...
...and there you have it...another year has passed in the blink of an eye...
...of course I did the regular shopping...all these goodies are from the farmer's market...
...I put the sauces there just in case you didn't realize that they are (accidentally) vegan...and the Himalayan Pink Salt actually says on the bag that it's vegan...haha...
...and then from the regular grocery store...of note...the vegan Thai Sweet Potato Soup to try...and some more smoked almonds...I think I'm addicted to them now...and I got some Wasabi Soy ones to try too...and fresh broccoli to try out in my new steamer basket...
...this is my trick for making short work of the watermelon storage...I use my largest scoop and just quickly cut little balls of melon...
...and plop them into a Tupperware...
...and seriously in two minutes...I'm done...
...the other half I covered with one of my little silicone food saver thingies...
...I fried up the green tomato I bought for a delicious snack...
...and Sunday afternoon...I made another batch of homemade silken tofu...

Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteWe have a farmers market but it is not weekly and I often miss it. However there is a Chinese market gardener there and they sell amazing stuff - I got to try mustard greens for the first time, yum! I also got enough sorrel to make soup which was amazing!
Thank you Maureen,
Delete...I still remember the sorrel you sent me in North Dakota and the delicious soup I made with it...thanks again...I'll have to try and find some sorrell here...
