...What I Ate in San Antonio...as a Vegan...

...definitely not from the same day...and...definitely not everything I ate...and just in Date order...I suppose...

...so here's just a rambling sampling of the vegan food I ate during the trip...
...I already told you about Schilo's...that's the very first place we ate in San Antonio...and I had grits toast and tea...
...this is the orange and beet salad from The Hard Rock Cafe...highly recommended...I'll be making a homemade version of this one for sure...
...chips and dip from the Casa Rio on the riverwalk...
...our drinks...the watermelon aqua is mine...the horchata is the Airman's Wife's...and guess who had the Lone Star...
...I ordered the taco salad without cheese and sour cream...and it was huge...the server said this is the small one...haha...they have an even larger one...
...we thought this "HARD TOFU" from H.E.B. was hilarious...I've never seen firm tofu called "hard" before...which is funny because we definitely call the silken kind "soft"...
...one of the few meals we cooked at the AirBnB...baked potatoes and "hard" tofu...
...Nada Moo chocolate ice cream for dessert...
...my favorite breakfast to order out...hashbrowns with all the omelette mix-ins...this is at Pancake Joes...
...my delicious salad from the Alsatian Restaurant in Castroville...homemade raspberry vinaigrette and bread too...it was yummy...
...the pancake breakfast at the AirBnB with our Airman...
...the first pancake actually turned out pretty well...unusual for me...
...my overexposed plate...pancake..."hard" tofu...and some of the delicious bread from the Alsatian bakery toasted...
...we cooked on the grill with our Airman...and tried the plant based burgers from H.E.B. ...they were ok...
...oatmeal breakfast at Schilo's with our Airman...also applesauce and WW toast...
...veggie sandwich at Whataburger...it was delicious...
...breakfast at the airport...a bean 'burrito'...unusual and very plain...but vegan...it was good...
...and then lunch (eaten standing up waiting in line to board) at the airport in Atlanta...was this delicious bean salad...
...I took a photo of the misprinted ingredients label...so I can recreate it...it really hit the spot during a flight delay...

...what did you eat yesterday?...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. Seems it was easy to find vegan meals in restaurants! Awesome!
    Everything looks good!
The beet salad looks great; I'm looking forward to see your version.
For the tofu... there are many varieties in the firmness in both kind; firm or silken.

  2. That all looks yummy! I had oatmeal/strawberry jam for bfast, leftover black olive/onion pizza for lunch and turkey spaghetti for dinner. Oh, and a pop tart while watching TV - only thing sweet and easy I could find in the house!

    Love, K
